ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to include None of the Above (NOTA) box in ballot papers for the general election.
The decision has been taken during the meeting of the ECP underway in Islamabad.
According to details, if a voter doesn’t like any candidate in his constituency he will be able to cast vote against all. “After the inclusion of NOTA, the ECP will hold re-election in the constituency where 51 per cent people would vote against all,” sources said.
The sources said that the commission would request for the issuance of an ordinance as a legislation was required for change in the ballot papers.
Moreover, the ECP has also decided to monitor sensitive polling stations from satellite.
It is to mention here that Tahir-ul-Qadri’s Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) was the first party demanded for the NOTA while several groups on social media also ran campaign over the issue.
Analysts say the step would encourage those people who does not vote to any party.
