Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Monday took suo moto notice of two mega corruption scandals during the tenure of former prime ministers, Raja Pervez Ashraf and Yousuf Raza Gillani.
According to the SC registrar, there were reports of corruption while awarding 200 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station licenses in the Ashraf’s tenure.
The former premier Gillani also awarded licenses to almost 450 CNG stations across the country despite the ban.
A three member bench presided by the CJP would hear the case from April 3, 2013.
