Karachi: Former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf on Monday hoped that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) will withdraw its candidate from NA-250 Karachi in his support.
Khushbakht Shujaat of the MQM has filed nomination papers from the constituency. He was also elected member of National Assembly from the same constituency in 2008 elections.
Speaking to media, the former military chief said that he had played an important role in bring the MQM to the mainstream politics adding that the Karachi-based party would withdraw their candidate in his respect.
The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Leader further said that he was in touch with the London cabinet of the MQM as he spent most of his time during exile in Britain’s capital.
“I have serious life threats and my party will face problem during the elections due to the threats,” he added.
