Lahore: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazlur Rehman (JUI-F) Chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman rejected gas pipeline project from Iran and said that Pakistan don’t need to buy gas from any other country.
Addressing a public gathering in Lahore, Rehman said that Pakistan was full of natural resources and it can easily become a self-sufficient country.
“We don’t need to buy gas from any other country,” the JUI-F chief argued, saying the problem of load-shedding can be resolved through sensible decision making.
The JUI-F leader also stressed on Pakistan’s acknowledgement as the region’s one of the most significant states.
“No one has the right to strip us of our independence,” Fazl snapped while delivering a speech to a mammoth rally held under a title ‘Islam Zindabad Conference’ at Minar-e-Pakistan, marking the launch of JUI-F’s election campaign for the May 11 polls.
Spelling out his party’s manifesto for the general elections, he called for judicious utilization of the country’s resources.
“We want to pull people out of the mire of humiliation and coercion,” he stressed, adding at the same time that he accepts the legitimate rights of a landlord.
He promised to transform the country into a welfare state where labourers will be given their rightful status in the society.
Fazl went on to say that, if elected to power, he would be able to salvage people of the Punjab from a feudal oppression.
“No small holder of agricultural land will be forced to abandon its ownership,” he said, calling upon the people to stand for their independence.
