Lahore: Mobile phone service has been partially suspended in Lahore in the Minar-e-Pakistan area today (Sunday).The measure has been taken in view of providing security to the planned gathering of Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam (Fazl-ur-Rehman).
The head of the religious-political party had already stated that the gathering will be mammoth and historic. Analysts see it as a strong effort to build up image for the upcoming general elections in the country.
Security situation in Pakistan is becoming sensitive with the nearing elections, amid imminent threats exists from the terrorist organizations.
Resumption of service Â
According to a local news channel, the service will remain suspended in the aforementioned area till 10pm.
