IT ministry assures Irfan Qadir e-voting for overseas Pakistanis

Islamabad: Pakistan Attorney General Irfan Qadir on Wednesday met the officials of the Ministry of Information Technology to discuss the issue of extending the facility of electronic voting to Pakistanis living abroad.

Pakistan’s general elections are scheduled to be held on May 11 and the country’s Supreme Court has directed the authorities to take immediate steps for the voting facility to overseas nationals.

“The attorney general met the ministry’s officials and they have assured the provision of voting facility to overseas Pakistanis to the AG,” a private news television reported.

The report quoting the sources said the officials had assured the AG that the e-voting system would be established within one month.
