Islamabad: At least 2136 Pakistani security personnel, including 1479 soldiers and 675 FC men, and 5152 civilians have lost their lives during war against terrorism in FATA and PATA, the northwestern tribal regions of the country, since 2008, the country’s secret agencies told the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
During the hearing of missing prisoners’ case, Raja Irshan, the counsel of the agencies, filed in the apex court a detailed report of the incidents of terrorism in the tribal region bordering Afghanistan during 2008 to 2013.
The report said that the forces conducted 612 operations in the region and killed 3000 terrorist and injured 1228 others. “7723 soldiers and 5676 civilians also sustained injuries during the operations.”
“The terrorist carried out 235 suicide attacks and fired 9257 rockets during the period,” the report said, adding the terrorist also did 3256 bomb attacks.
Moreover, the report said that over 49000 Pakistani civilians and soldiers had been killed since September 9, 2011.
Irshad also submitted the CDs of the terrorists with the report in the SC.
“Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been turned into sectarian violence,” the SC told.
The agencies said in the report that 34 per cent areas of FATA and 31 per cent areas of Swat valley were in terrorists control in 2008.
