Islamabad: The Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has left Pakistan due to serious life threats from one of the most dangerous terror outfit in the region, al-Qaeda, a source close to top PPP brass said on Tuesday.
Earlier, Indian Express reported that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has left for Dubai after a tiff with his father, President Asif Ali Zardari, over the affairs of the PPP.
The reports say, Bilawal developed differences with Zardari and his sister, Faryal Talpur, over the party’s handling of key issues, including militant violence, sectarian attacks against Shias and the award of party tickets for the polls scheduled for May 11.
The sources said that the intelligence agencies of the country intercepted a plot of al-Qaeda to assassinate Bilawal Bhutto during the upcoming election campaign.
“The threats were so serious that even the schedule of the PPP chief’s visit to different venues was also recovered from the arrested terrorists,” they said.
The threats were conveyed to the President Zardari and Interior Minister Rehman Malik, who decided to remove Bilawal from the screen for a meanwhile in order to avoid any possible assassination bid.
Due to the current serious threats, the PPP chief left for London via Dubai.
