Karachi: The Sindh High Court on Monday issued notices to Election Commission of Pakistan, the federation and the attorney general on a petition filed by the Muttahid Qaumi Movement (MQM) against delimitations in Karachi.
Farrog Naseem, the MQM counsel, said in the court that the delimitation in Karachi is illegal after the announcement of election schedule.
He pleaded to court to hold delimitation exercise as void.
Earlier, in the morning the MQM moved the SHC, challenging delimitation of constituencies in Karachi city.
Farooq Sattar, while speaking to media outside the SHC, said that they had pleaded the court to stop delimitation exercise in the city. He added that the exercise could not be carried out after the announcement of election schedule.
“The delimitation is not only against the order of the Supreme Court but also against the law,” Sattar said.
