ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed the Finance Secretary through a letter to remove State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) deputy governor Muhammad Ashraf Wathra within two days.
According to details, the ECP said that such reports are received that the deputy governor can interfere in the process of scrutiny of the candidates for the upcoming general elections which could become hindrance to transparent elections.
Pakistan is scheduled to hold general election on May 11 this year and the country’s election commission looks keen to hold free and fair polls after the first governor in history of the South Asian nation completed its five years Constitutional tenure.
