JI, PTI express concerns over caretaker PM

Lahore: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday expressed their reservation over newly appointed caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso but said that they respect the decision taken by the Election Commission of Pakistan (PTI).

A JI delegation headed by its Amir Syed Munawar Hassan called on the PTI leadership here in Lahore on Sunday to discuss the seat adjustment issue between both the parties for an upcoming election.

The country is scheduled to hold general election on May 11 this year.

Speaking to media after the meeting, Hassan said that Khan has given new hope to the nation, adding that their meeting was continuity of the previous dialogues between the parties.

He said that seat adjustment was being discussed with the PTI, adding that election committees of both the parties would take final decision over the issue.

Hassan, expressing concern over the new caretaker prime minister, said that the PM did not have better track record.

However, he said that his party respected the decision of the ECP.

Khan welcoming JI delegation said that they had thoroughly discussed the seat adjust and other issues pertaining to the election.

He said that they would not make alliance with any party which had played any role in the government during last five year.

He also expressed the PTI’s reservation over the caretaker PM but said they respected the ECP’s decision.

Both the JI and the PTI said that they were hopeful for free and transparent election.
