Peshawar: Police in Khyber Pakhtonkhwa (KPK) on Tuesday foiled a bid to export huge quantity of arms from Peshawar to Punjab, sources said on Tuesday.
The police sources said that the driver of suspicious truck did stopped his vehicle when the police directed him to stop it at a checkpoint.
They added that the police chased the truck and stop it few kilometers away from the checkpost and recovered huge quantity of arms hidden in boxes of fruit and vegetables.
The police claimed that they had recovered 200,000 cartridges, 100 rifles and number of other weapons from the truck.
“The arms and ammunitions were smuggled to Punjab…two people were arrested in the incident while investigation is being carried out,” the police said.
