Islamabad: Pakistan’s federal government has decided to extend the governor’s rule in Balochistan province for two months, a report said on Thursday.
Nawab Aslam Raisani led coalition government was restored at 12:00 am (March 14, 2013) after a two-month term of the rule imposed in the restive province expired.
A television report quoting sources said that President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf had decided to extent the rule for two more months. “Notification will be issued at today (Thursday).”
Analysts say a joint sitting of the parliament is required to endorse extension for the governor’s rule, which was imposed by the president, invoking Article 234 of the Constitution for two months in the aftermath of Alamdar road bombing.
Meanwhile, Raisani has also called coalition partners to hold meeting in Islamabad today (Thursday).
