Islamabad: Pakistan’s Attorney General Irfan Qadir on Monday told the country’s Supreme Court that it is not possible to give voting right to overseas Pakistanis before the elections.
During the hearing of the case pertaining to right of vote for overseas Pakistanis, Qadir said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had pointed out some problem in the issue.
He said that 400 to 500 polling booths would be required in Saudi Arabia alone as 1.5 million Pakistanis were residing the country, adding that 2,000 electoral workers would also be required to accomplish the tasks.
“We will also need to get permission from the Saudi authorities for election process,” the AG said in the court.
