Karachi: Sindh Police Inspector General (IG) Fayyaz Leghari on Monday told media that Karachi police have arrested five suspects of a deadly bombing in the city’s Abbas Town area that killed 45 people.
According to the IG, four of the suspects belonged to the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and one was a member of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
He said police recovered 50kg of explosives, detonators, two 9mm pistols, two Kalashnikovs and a hit-list of would-be targets from them.
The suspects were also involved in targeted killings of more than 25 different political activists, Leghari claimed.
The IG further said that initial reports regarding yesterday’s carnage showed that nearly 150kg of explosives were planted in a car in the area. However, the vehicle could not be identified.
He said that the suspects were expert of bomb making.
