Karachi: Pakistan is amongst the countries where Cricket is not a men-sport anymore, and since its formation, the women Cricket team is gradually making progress, however the incumbent Chairperson of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Women Wing, Bushra Aitzaz feels that still there was a huge room of improvement in all areas, and they were striving for the same. On the dismal performance by the women’s team in the recently concluded World Cup, Bushra Aitzaz put the onus on the lack of match practice.
“During the year before the mega event, the women team only played Two ODI games, and mainly focused on the shortest version –T20 – during the period”, said Bushra Aitzaz while talking to the media.
“At least 20 to 25 T20s and the same number of ODIs in a year should be arranged for the team, and this is what we are striving for”, added Bushra Aitzaz.
The chairperson also described the fitness level of Pakistan women cricketers as below-par, and vowed to uplift the standard by providing adequate facilities to the women cricketers.
“The fitness level of our girls is not at par with the top teams in the world. Ever since I took charge, betterment of this aspect is amongst the top priorities”, said Bushra Aitzaz.
The Women Wing chairperson said that a proper facility for women cricketers is the need of the hour. She also urged the provincial government to hand over the earlier promised stadium to the Women Cricket authorities.
