New Delhi: Former Pakistani bowling great Wasim Akram on Monday stepped down as a bowling coach of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, citing “personal reasons”.
He had been on the post for the past three seasons of the league.
KKR team management said that Akram expressed his desire to spend more time with his family as his two sons Taimur and Akbar are barely in their teens, PTI reported.
“Wasim Akram will be badly missed,” KKR CEO Venky Mysore, according to a media release.
“He is a legend and a great motivator to have around the team. However, we fully appreciate the reason why he will be unavailable. We hope to work with him in future.”
