Lahore: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday appointed former Federal Minister for States and Frontier Region Engineer Shaukatullah Khan as new governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Shaukatullah will be replacing Barrister Masood Kausar, who, according to sources, was replaced because of his ill health.
The chief justice Peshawar High Court is expected to take his oath tomorrow at 4pm in the city’s governor house.
The newly appointed governor met the president along with Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Friday.
Kausar succeeded Owais Ahmad Ghani on February 8, 2011.
Engineer Shaukatullah is from a small town Nawagai of Bajaur agency in Pakistan’s northwest tribal region.
The new KP governor was elected as a member of the National Assembly from NA-43 Nawagai.
