Islamabad: Outspoken Pakistani politician and member of National Assembly, Sheikh Waqas Akram has decided to quit his party, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PMLQ).
According to informed sources, the PML-Q leader would likely join Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and his announcement would be made after the visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf to Jhang.
Meanwhile, Akram denied the reports and said that he has no intention to leave PML-Q but said that he was annoyed with his party as they refused to grant funds for his constituency NA-89.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has granted a fund of 20 crore for the Akram’s constituency and more funds would be announced on the PM’s Jhang visit.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, some PPP leaders confirmed that Waqas could contest next general elections as a PPP candidate from Jhang.
On the other hand, some close aides of Waqas Akram has confirmed reports of leaving PML-Q but said that he would contest next elections as an independent candidate.
