Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Tuesday directed Attorney General of Pakistan Ifran Qadir to order release of missing prisoners of Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail otherwise the court would give its order.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by the chief justice resumed the hearing of the case.
During the hearing, the CJ said that the prisoners could be not held for a second if there were not evidences against them. The CJ further said that the persons would be shifted to jail despite detention center if the evidences were found.
The CJ asked Raja Irshad, counsel of the secret agencies, to present the copy of the order that had authorized them to keep the held persons for indefinite period.
Raja Irshad informed the bench that all the accused were sent to detention centers according to the law. On his, the CJ remarked that in the 21st century Pakistan has written constitution. “You are saying that the persons were detained on ethical grounds.”
Raja Irshad said that the forces had detained them in national interest.
