Islamabad: Talks between a 10-member delegation of the coalition government and Tahir-ul-Qadri are underway in a bullet-proof bunker of the Pakistan’s capital of Islamabad as thousands of people gathered despite heavy rain and cold at D-square of the city.
The delegation reached at the square at 3:50pm and began the talks with the Canadian-Pakistani leader.
Earlier, Pakistani government formed a four-member delegation to negotiate with Minhajul Qur’an chief Tahir-ul-Qadri after the cleric gave a ‘final’ deadline to the government for dialogues.
Later, the delegation was extended to 10 members.
The delegation includes Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Farooq Sattar, Babar Ghauri, Pakistan Muslim League-Q’s Chaudhry Shujat, Mushahid Hussain, Pakistan People’s Party’s Khursheed Shah, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Awami National Party’s Afrasiab Khattak.
The Canadian-Pakistani cleric gave a 90-minute (till 3pm) deadline to government for dialogues.
He said that Thursday (today) was the final day of sit-in, adding that people would take their rights by themselves. He said that he was giving final deadline to the government till 3:00pm Thursday (today).
“We will finish it by the end of this day…today…today…today,” he said.
