Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday expressed anger over the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for not producing the investigation record of the rental power case and said that the court could supervise the NAB’s probe.
A three member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry resumed the hearing of the case after the break at 12:00pm.
The bench expressed anger over NAB Chairman Fasih Bokhari for not producing the investigation record within 15-minutes.
When the bench resumed the hearing after the break, the NAB chairman said that the record could not be produced immediately as it was highly sensitive. “We will submit the recorded the registrar office later,” K.K Agha, the NAB prosecutor general, told the bench.
The chief justice remarked that the court could also supervise the probe as they have examples in the past.
The CJ gave examples of Bank of Punjab’s from Pakistan and Tehelka.com’s from India where the courts supervised the investigation.
Later, the court gave another deadline to the NAB to produce the record till 1:00pm and took break.
