Islamabad: “Pakistan has reservations on declaring India Most Favored Nation (MFN) and will raise the issue in the meeting of trade secretaries of the countries in a few days.”
Secretary Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Jalil Abbas pointed towards persistence of the reservations in a statement to the media on Thursday.
Abbas termed the bilateral trade relations immensely important, adding that the federal Cabinet of Pakistan has already given approval to the proposal.
He termed the firing incident on the LoC ‘extremely unfortunate despite a ceasefire agreement 10 years ago’.
He furthered that Pakistan has made the offer of investigating the incident.
Abbas said that Pakistan cannot even think about neglecting the issue of Kashmir, adding that the incumbent president of Pakistan has already termed non-resolution of the issue a failure of the United Nations.
“We will bring a resolution in the UNSC for peace and against terrorism,” he said.
The foreign secretary also said that talks with Iran on the gas pipeline project are underway.
