Rawalpindi: At least one Pakistani soldier was killed and another injured when Indian soldiers on Sunday violated Line of Control (LoC) and attacked the country check-post in Haji Peer Sector (Bagh), Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) said.
According to the ISPR, the Indian soldiers violating Pakistani territory attacked Sawan Patra check-post in the sector and left two soldiers injured.
“Pakistani soldiers repulsed the attacked and forced the Indian soldiers to leave the area.”
Later, one of the injured soldiers named Lance Naik Aslam succumbed to his injuries.
The Indian soldiers also left their weapons behind while troops are still exchanging gunfire in the area, the ISPR said.
They said the raid crossed the “line of control” dividing the Indian and Pakistani sides of Kashmir, a flashpoint of violence between these two neighbors for decades.
Both claim the region as their own.
A 2003 cease-fire ended the most recent round of fighting.
Each side occasionally accuses the other of violating it by lobbing mortars or shooting across the LOC, but accusations of cross-border raids are rare.
