Faisalabad: Pakistan Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) association has announced to stage countrywide protests on Tuesday January 8th, 2013.
All Pakistan Compressed Natural Gas Association (APCNGA) announced on Saturday (today) that the strike will continue until their demand of gas supply is not met.
Anjum Niaz Chaudhry, Chairman APCNGA urged the concerned authorities to resume CNG supply, especially in Punjab province, to the filling stations within next 24 hours.
Niaz also demanded to deduct the recently applied additional charges on CNG.
He threatened the authorities that they will march towards Islamabad if their demands are not fulfilled within the specified time.
On the other hand, MD Sui Nothern Arif Hameed has said that there can be no availability of gas until the end of the winter season. Therefore, the CNG stations cannot resume operations during this time.
At present, we can only ensure supply of the utility to domestic consumers and as soon as we will have covered the shortfall, we will resume its provision to the industrial sector.
He also mentioned that the current consumption of gas in the domestic sector is 1.5 billion cubic feet.
KESC stance
Meanwhile, the spokesman for KESC has said that they are facing severe shortage of gas, which can result in surge in load-shedding in the city. He also said that the provision of MMCFD case has affected the performance of the production unit.
