Kolkata: Indian skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and put Pakistan into bat first in second One Day International (ODI) match of the three match series.
It was the first time the series that Indian skipper has won the toss.
Dhoni said, “the wicket has been under covers…the conditions are overcast…so we want to exploit it….There is considerable amount of pressure after losing the first game…it is a do-or-die situation. Jadeja in for Rohit.”
Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq said that it was a good feeling to be one-up in a three-match series.
He said that they had made no change in the playing eleven.
The green shirts will enter the ground as favourite’s for the today’s match because they had not loss any of their matches on Eden Gardens stadium against India.
Out of three contests against their arch rival from 1987, Pakistan remained unbeatable and won all of their matches. The visitors won their first match at the ground in February 18, 1987 after they defeated the hosts by 2 runs after an exciting match.
In 1992, the two teams once again played against each other and this time the hosts were even defeated by a big margin of 72 runs. The first two matches were played under the captaincy of Cricketer turned politician Imran Khan.
Later in 2004, the two teams once again played next to each other and the result was once again the same with Pakistan chasing a huge target of 293 runs. Inzamam-ul-Haq captained the team in the match and Salman Butt played an extra ordinary innings of 108 runs.
