Karachi: The World Health Organisation (WHO) has said that 210 children died of measles in Pakistan in 2012.
In an annual report pertaining to the deaths due to the epidemic disease, the WHO said that Sukkur division was the highly affected area of the country as 33 children died due to disease in the division.
“15 children succumbed to measles in Karachi in last year,” the report said and added that around 13,973 cases of measles reported in Sindh.
The WHO further said that 1.3 million injections had been provided to the Sindh government to deal with the measles, adding that an emergency campaign had also been started in the province which will remain continue till January 9.
“2.9 million children will be provided vaccination.”
