London: Recently, few reports suggested that Apple is considering to adopt IGZO screen technology on iPhone and iPad, including iPad mini and iPad 9.7”, new rumours say the US smartphone maker is still confused.
The rumours say that Apple has not made a final decision because they cannot be sure whether Sharp, the supply partners of IGZO screen, be able to meet a large number of production of iPhone and iPad or not.
Apple is in discussions with Sharp regarding the estimation of the productivity of the production process of IGZO screen in 2013.
Displays made from Indium Gallium Zinc Oxigo (IGZO) are not only the best choice for any ultra-thin hardware devices Apple may hope to produce, but the displays can also reportedly handle a display density north of 330 ppi, which would be pretty impressive considering the new iPad 4 can only achieve 264 ppi.
But one of the best aspects of IGZO technology, besides its display quality and thinness, is its lower power consumption. Most Apple products, from the iPhone 5 to the iPad 3 and 4, require massive batteries to power the devise for 8 hours — this is because the Retina Displays on these large devices are extremely power hungry.
