Larkana: A large number of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers and leaders from parts of Pakistan continued pouring into Larkana’s Naudero town to mark the 5th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto, the former prime minister of the country who was assassinated in a bomb and shooting attack in Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh on December 27, 2007.
Convoys of PPP workers are converging on Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in Naudero, where the graves of Benazir Bhutto and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto are located.
The Jialas are looking forward to witness the launch of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari into politics from the party’s Jalsa near Bhuttos’ family graveyard.
Pakistan’s President and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto will address the public gathering.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari,24, has chosen his mother’s fifth death anniversary to make a formal debut in politics. This means that he will be handed charge of his party’s campaign for next year’s general elections; he cannot contest elections till he is 25.
General Elections are due in Pakistan anytime after March next year when the current National Assembly will complete its five-year term.
The ruling PPP has indicated that elections are likely to be held in April or May next year. While will turn 25 only in September, 2013.
