MQM’s Rabita Committee sacks Anees Ahmed Advocate over ‘misconduct’

Karachi: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Rabita Committee has suspended the membership of Anees Ahmed Advocate on Sunday over alleged misconduct.

An MQM press release confirmed that Anees has been removed from the party’s decision-making body on disciplinary grounds.

The move came as the party is facing troubles inside and outside the country. Its UK-based leader Altaf Hussain is supposed to appear before the Supreme Court of Pakistan on January 7, 2013 in a contempt of court case, and on the other hand the MQM fears delimitation of constituencies in Karachi, its stronghold, and terms it as ‘pre-poll rigging’.

Legal experts say Hussain’s UK citizenship may be revoked if he found guilty of contempt of court.
