Mirpur: World Twenty20 Champions West Indies finally recorded their much awaited victory in the series against host Bangladesh, winning the all important match played at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur by 4 wickets with 18 balls remaining.
The West Indies star who led the team to victory in T20 World Cup, scored an impressive century in the 3rd ODI against Bangladesh, rescuing the teams’ pride in the visiting country.
West Indies winning the toss, forced Bangladesh to bat first. The Bengal tigers got off to a responsible start with no wicket lost till the end of first powerplay and scored 44 runs.
The first wicket fell down at the score of 50, after which the wickets continued to stumble at regular intervals and by the start of 17 overs, Bangladesh had lost their 4 important wickets.
They reached the 200 mark in the 45th over with more than half of the team fallen down. Mahmudullah helped the team reach 227 with his fine fifty two.
In reply, the Caribbean stars were out with a nervy start, both of their openers fell down early but Samuels cruised the team to victory with his mind-boggling 126, winning the match single-handedly for the team. He was declared the man of the match.
