Johannesburg: South Africa’s military plane carrying 11 passengers has crashed in South Africa’s mountain range, located in east of the country, killing all on board.
According to reports, the crashed jet, one of South Africa’s twin-propeller aircraft was traveling from Pretoria to Mthatha.
The plane went missing on Wednesday night but the initial search was abandoned due to poor weather, Brig. Gen. Xolani Mabanga told foreign news agency.
He said that the aircraft has taken off from Pretoria’s Waterkloof Air Force Base on Wednesday night and soldiers found the wreckage of the Douglas DC-3 Dakota in the Drakensberg mountains near Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal province.
Several unconfirmed reports say that those on board included members of Nelson Mandela’s medical team.
