Karachi: Security sources on Wednesday warned of more terror activities across Karachi, a metropolitan of Pakistan, in the next 30 days.
In a report forwarded to high police officials, the security agencies warned that the militants might use planted devices to launch terror attacks before Imam Hussain (R.A) Chehlum.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) official told The News Tribe that the militants failed to launch a major assault during the first 10 days of Muharram and there were strong indications that they might launch deadly attacks during next 23 days.
It is to be mentioned here that the government suspended mobile services, imposed ban on pillion riding and increased patrolling of law enforcement authorities during the first 10 days of Muharram which prevented any major attack in the city.
CID officials also seized huge cache of ammunition and explosive material during a raid in Mangopir area of Karachi, foiling militants bid to attack the mourning procession of Muharram 10.
The security officials also arrested a culprit from the spot who later revealed that he and his accomplice, who was killed in police encounter, was involved in Orangi and Abbas Town blasts in the metropolitan.
Meanwhile, the targeted killings have once again gained peak in the last few days with miscreants killing a prominent cleric Maulana Mohammad Ismail, which triggered panic in the area.
