Quetta: The ongoing conflict between the Balochistan government and the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) is causing agony for people of provincial capital.
After abduction of eye specialist and Medical Superintendent (MS) LRBT Dr. Saeed Khan, the PMA Balochistan had gone to strike across the provincial capital and demanded the government to recover the doctor and take necessary steps to ensure safety of other doctors in the province.
In reply to that, the provincial government arrested a few doctors on strike and registered cases against them under an act of peace disturbance. The government suspended few doctors and also withheld salaries of 500 others.
This infuriated the PMA as doctors continued their strike even after the recovery of Dr. Saeed, demanding the government to reverse its actions against doctors on strike.
People of the city became helpless during the conflict as there were very few and inexperience doctors were available to handle patients in serious condition.
As a result, at least 12 people died helplessly during the in last 47 days.
