Karachi: CNG stations across the province are only partially opened with long queues of vehicles and absolute absence of governmental authority to open these.
The stations were to be opened in the morning at 9am (local time) but only some of them are catering to the requirement of gene public. This situations has sparked rage and worry among the commoners, blaming the station owners and those sitting at the helm of affairs for it.
In Peshawar and Multan, only some of the stations are opened while others are observing strike against the ‘low tariff’. The stations were closed for three days on the justification of load management but later went on indefinite strike. People in the queues expressed that they had been waiting for their turn since 6am.
In Lahore, absence of electricity at some gas stations has worsened the issue. In Bahawalpur, people are facing the worst closure of CNG stations for seven consecutive days.
Meanwhile, a petition has been filed in Sindh High Court against the suspension of gas supply. The petitioner said that the suspension is illegal and unlawful and, hence, should be discontinued immediately.
Station owners claim that they have to bear loss of 23 rupees, 60paisa on each kg of filling of the gas. The authority seems completely silent on the issue, making it more worrisome for general public. The next hearing in the Supreme Court of Pakistan on gas tariff is on December 5.
