Lahore: The initial investigations into the deaths of people in Lahore on intake of cough syrup ‘Tyno’ revealed that the victims took the dose 500 times more than what doctor has prescribed.
The investigations were conducted by a 3-member team including Najam Saeed, Major Mubashir and Professor Faisal Masoud. The team was set up by the chief minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
The initial reports said the people died because of taking the prescribed medicine in higher quantity.
It is worthwhile to mention that so far 17 people have become the victims of ‘tyno’, all of them being drug addicts.
The families of the victims confirmed that they used the syrup for mental relaxation.
After the death of 17 people from ‘tyno’ syrup the Punjab government’s advisor Khuwaja Salman Rafeeq put a ban on the sale of the respective medicine.
