Quetta: At least 12 mortar shells fired from Iranian border area, Taftan, hit Chagi, a district of Pakistan’s province Balochistan, on Sunday night, security sources said on Monday. The shells caused no casualties.
According to Deputy Commissioner Chagi, Shah Irfan, the mortar shells hit Lashker-e-Aab area of Chagi. “We have registered our protest with the Iranian officials,’ he said adding that a meeting of border officials from both sides was summoned in order to discuss the situation.
Provincial Home Secretary, Akber Durrani said that he had informed foreign ministry regarding the incident.
