Lahore: The government of Punjab has finally come into action, launching crackdown against medical stores and confiscating stock after the deadly Tyno syrup took lives of 16 people.
Government directed drug inspectors of the province to confiscate stock of the poisonous medicine, following which extensive raids are being conducted across the province. In about 152 raids so far, six stores have been sealed and stock of the toxicant taken from possession.
According to common view, the syrup didn’t have any poisonous material in it; the deaths were caused because of intake of large quantity of it. However, team investigating the case said in its report that if there was no toxication in it, then taking the entire quantity could not cause any damage.
