Peshawar: Mobile phone service in 48 cities of the country have been banned in view of the sensitivity of law and order on the eve of Ashura, but amazingly, Peshawar has been exempted of it.
Moreover, the interior office of the province has asked the federal ministry that the service should not be banned even on 10th Muharram (tomorrow). In its letter to the ministry, it said that police in the city has made foolproof security arrangements.
It merits mentioning here that the place of the blast that occurred in Dera Ismael Khan (DI Khan) had the mobile service working there. This incident that took place at Bannu Chongi has claimed lives of seven people while about 18 are injured.
According to the bomb disposal squad, the explosive was 8 to 10kg heavy and was put in a garbage container. Police sources said that military has been deployed on the roads in the area following the attack.
