DI Khan: At least six people were killed including three children, around 18 sustained serious injuries including a security personnel in a high intensity blast targeting Muharram procession in Bannu Chungi area of DI Khan on Saturday.
According to rescue sources, it was a planted bomb deposited in a pile of garbage from where the procession was planned to pass through.
The sources say that bodies of dead and wounded were being shifted to District headquarter hospital. “Injured men were in critical condition.”
The police have cordoned off the area and assistance has been sought from Army. Bomb disposal squad have also reached the spot for inspection.
The sources say that around 4000 security personnel were deployed in the area in order to provide full proof security to the processions.
Update: The security forces have held one suspect from the area, interrogation was underway. Bomb disposal squad say the explosives weighed eight to ten kilogram.
