Karachi: Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh Fayyaz Leghari on Wednesday said that he oppose military operation in Karachi, though, he request the Army to remain on standby for any immediate call.
Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad Leghari told that the Sindh Police have held about 12 thousand terrorists including 165 target killers this year. “The police have extracted imperative information from them.”
He claimed that the recent wave of sectarian violence in Hyderabad was now under control. However, the Army is requested to remain on standby in Karachi, Hyderabad and Khairpur.
He told the media that the police have arrested four suspects involved in the killing of Bohri community. “Most of the suspected persons arrested from Hyderabad were serial killers.”
Leghari, following the footsteps of Interior Minister Rehman Malik, also hinted third party involvement in the deteriorating situation of Karachi.
