Washington: The US Special Operations Command has said that a post-raid assessment found no proof that Pakistani authorities were aware about the presence of Al-Qaeda Chief Osama bin Laden in its territory.
The US Navy Commander William H McRaven told attendees at a meeting in Washington that Pakistani authorities were not informed of the raid by US seals in Abbottabad city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in May 2011 that eliminated Bin Laden.
McRaven said they have no intelligence that signifies that Pakistani government knew the whereabouts of Al Qaeda Chief.
Navy admiral said there was never a moment he doubted the operation would succeed but bin Laden is dead now. Though, non-state actors still present a threat, he noted.
“We’ve done a terrific job of taking care of the core of Al Qaeda,” McRaven said adding that there is no such thing as a local problem anymore and everything in the world is connected.”
