New Delhi: Following the invitation by Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to visit Pakistan, the Indian Foreign Ministry has indicated that such a visit is unlikely to take place soon.
In a statement released on Friday, the ministry explained that this may not be only because of the “very short window” for such a trip ahead of elections in Pakistan.
India is not satisfied by the Pakistani efforts to bring Mumbai attack perpetrators to justice and still felt a sense of hurt over the attitude of Pakistani authorities in which Islamabad has gone to complete this task, local media quotes sources in the Indian Ministry. “India needs a little balm from Pakistan which can give us the courage and strength to move forward.”
Asif Ali Zardari re-invited Indian Premier in a meeting with Singh in New Delhi earlier this May. He also suggested the PM to make a visit to the neighbouring country on the occasion of Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary, which falls on November 28.
Meanwhile, Pakistani high commissioner to India Salman Bashir said on Thursday that Islamabad looks forward to the visit.
