Mexico: A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.4 has struck Mexico and areas surrounding it on Thursday, miraculously causing no major damage in the incident.
Sources said that the quake was of magnitude 6.4 and took place at around 3:20 am, local time. It was centered 57 miles (92 km) southwest of the Los Mochis area in Sinaloa, Mexico at a depth of 6.3 miles.
According to news reports, the dwellers and people of commercial areas in the area said the tremor of the quake was rough and they were shaken badly. “Miraculously, no loss of life or property was reported in the incident while the buildings also apparently have remained undamaged”.
A credible information resource said that 6-6.9 magnitude earthquake ‘can be destructive in populated areas while earthquake-resistant structures survive with slight to moderate damage’.
