Vientiane: Pakistan Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has said that misuse of the freedom of expression is also a sort of extremism and it must be discouraged.
Addressing Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) in Laos on Monday, the PM said that inter-religious harmony among different religions should be promoted.
Ashraf said that Pakistan has given great sacrifices in war on terror, adding that the sacrifices needed be accepted. “The Afghanistan war has affected the entire region…peace and friendship in the region is imperative.”
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan and Laos enjoy close relations which will be further cemented with the passage of time.
He said the volume of bilateral trade is low but has a great potential for improvement.
He expressed the hope that the negotiations on Preferential Trade Agreement between the two countries are progressing well which will boost trade and economic ties.
He thanked the government of Laos for its support to Pakistan for Full Dialogue Partner Status in ASEAN and extended an invitation to Prime Minister of Laos to visit Pakistan.
Thongsing Thammavong said his government is grateful for the support extended by Pakistan for the Full Membership of World Trade Organization (WTO).
This, he said would help Laos to open up foreign investment and increase trade with world in general and Pakistan in particular.
He expressed the hope investors from Pakistan would be encouraged to invest in Laos.
He said that ASEM had played great role for interaction between Asia and Europe, adding that his country had always played a positive role in ASEM.
Ashraf welcomed Bangladesh and Norway on joining ASEM.
