Islamabad: Hinting at calling in army for sensitive polling stations, Additional Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Afzal Khan said that 3.7 million overseas Pakistanis now had right to vote.
“General elections will be held under supervision of Election Commission and any other institution will be called for assistance only,” he said addressing a news conference.
”It is our first priority to conduct free and fair elections and we are working on it. Amount of voters will reach 90 million by May, 2013. We have a target of 88% turnout” said Afzal.
He also said that turnout in cities stays lower than countryside.
“Political parties should play their role to improve it,” he added.
