Karachi: Instead of price-cut by Rs 30 on CNG, the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station owners and transporters in Karachi continued to tease the Karachiities with increased transport rates and shutdown of CNG pumps.
Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Regulation Authority (Ogra) on Thursday ordered reduction in the price of CNG by Rs 30.90, issuing a notification in this regard following directions by the Supreme Court.
A two-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar, declared that both the profit of Rs 10 per kilogram on the price CNG and the linkage of CNG price with that of petrol were illegal.
According to sources, after the routine gas-shutdown by Sui Southern Gas Company, (SSGC) from 9 am on Saturday to 9 am on Sunday, almost 90 percent of the CNG station owners refused to open their stations.
The owners made lame excuses saying that they had no electricity or the gas pressure was very less.
It is to be mentioned here that OGRA chief has assured that the action would be taken against all CNG pump owners who would not comply the SC decision.
Meanwhile, instead of using CNG as fuel, the transporters in Karachi also charged higher rates. Talking to media, the Chairman Transport Association Irshad Bukhari assured that the new rates would be implemented from November, 5 (Tomorrow).
