Pallekele: New Zealand will take on host Sri Lanka in first One day International (ODI) played at Pallekele International cricket stadium on Thursday.
As only T20 match was washed away in rain, now these two teams will take on each other in five ODI’s.
New Zealand will not have the support of its former captain Daniel Vettori and Martin Guptill in this series while host will feel the absence of its leading bowler of World T20 Ajantha Mendis.
New Zealand will be relying on its skipper Ross Taylor, wicketkeeper batsman Brendon McCullum and all rounder James Franklin. As far as their bowling is concerned they have experience of Jacob Oram and Kyel Mills with Nathan McCullum as a spinner.
On the other hand Sri Lanka will be relying on experience batsmen Kumar Sangakkara, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Mahela Jayawardene. Sri Lanka have decent pace attack in the lights of Lasith Malinga, Nowan Kulasekara and Thisara Perera.
