Islamabad: Air marshal (Retd) Asghar Khan Friday said that the military or civilian officer should not follow the illegal orders whatever the circumstances are.
Supreme Court of Pakistan ruled on Friday that election process was polluted through political meddling and the ISI and army chiefs, in personal capacity, indulged in politics illegally in 1990s.
It said an election cell was established in the President House in an attempt to manipulate election. The SC said that action could not be taken against those politicians who received money from the ISI without thorough investigation.
Talking to media representatives outside Supreme Court, Khan said, “I was just one year into my service. I was just 21. British authorities ordered me to attack the then Pir of Pagara’s caravan passing through Hyderabad as Pir sahib had declared a revolt against the colonial oppression. I understood the orders handed down to me were not right.”
He said he had to put up with a strict disciplinary action later, which he faced valiantly, but he never regretted his disobedience, as it was the right thing to do.
