Cape Town: Pakistani cricketer Azhar Mahmood Monday helped Auckland to defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by seven wickets in the Group A match of the Champions League T20, 2012 played at Newlands, Cape Town, South Africa.
Azhar Mahmood performed well in both bowling and batting department taking three wickets in the match and scoring 51 runs on 42 balls. The Auckland easily chased a target of 138 runs in the 18th over for the loss of only three wickets.
Guptil 25, Vincent 30 and Kitchen 24 were the three other batsmen except Mahmood who helped their team to easily defeat the giant of Indian Premier League (IPL).
The Kolkata bowlers tried their best but failed in their attempt to restrict the opponents. Narine, who took 2 wickets, remained the leading wicket-taker followed by Balaji taking one wicket.
Earlier, McCullum’s 40 runs and Bisla 38 helped Knight Riders in setting a moderate target of 138 runs.
